Dragon boat festival is around the corner. The festival is to commemorate Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan is a brilliant poet and a minister in charge of the Three Aristocratic Families. Become of some misunderstanding the king decided to dismiss and exile him. After the exile, Qu Yuan became very dishearten and he decided killed himself at the Mi Luo River. The fishermen heard that Qu Yuan committed suicide and so they decided to row the boat to find Qu Yuan’s body and this is how the dragon part came about. However they cannot find his body and the fishermen threw some rice into the river to feed Qu Yuan. Later the fishermen dreamt about that the fishes got the rice so they decided to stuff the rice into the bamboo leaves and this is how the dumpling came about.

Our family commemorates Qu Yuan too. Last Saturday, I went to my grandma’s house early in the morning to help. First I help them to prepare everything making sure that everything is ready. Then we started to wrap it. I stand at a side seeing how they stuff the food into the bamboo leaves, as I didn’t know how to make. After seeing at the side, I decided to try it out. At first, I thought it was very easy but when I do it myself, I felt that it was not so easy that I had thought. I kept and trying and I fail to make one perfect dumpling so I decide to give up. Therefore, that day I didn’t manage to make any dumpling. But I am enjoyed the process a lot.
